Northern Sinfonia trumpeter, Clarence Adoo, had his career cut short in 1995 when a car accident left him paralysed. This evening sees Clarence performing again, as designer Rolf Gehlhaar’s software enables Clarence to create a wide range of sounds, using subtle head movements coupled with small but delicate and precise breaths, as with a wind instrument. With trumpeter Torbjrn Hultmark, trombonist John Kenny and sound projectionist Chris Wheeler, Clarence performs John Kenny’s composition ‘Headspace’, written specifically for this software of the same name, and ‘Voice of the Carnyx’ plus a short work by young people from the region using the software. This event is being filmed by the local BBC for a documentary on BBC1
