Clarence Adoo's World of Brass

Clarence CD
THIS CD of brass music has been produced to raise funds for Clarence. It includes classical pieces such as the Sabre Dance and extracts from Tchaikowsky's 4th Symphony. There are also some Salvation Army pieces. The music is performed by brass ensembles, orchestral brass sections and the famous Black Dyke Mills Band. There is also a solo by Salvationist and professional trombonist Dudley Bright.

The CD, put together by orchestral tuba player Paul Smith, makes almost an hour's excellent listening pleasure for anyone interested in brass, whatever, the genre. The added plus is that proceeds go to help Clarence. The musicians appearing on the CD have given their talents free of charge so the maximum amount goes to help Clarence.

The CD costs £10 + p&p, with proceeds going to the Clarence Adoo Trust Fund. It's called Clarence Adoo's World of Brass and its label is CLA CD1. Contact me if you want one (or more!).

The Three Sopranos - Let Me Fly

The Three Sopranos - Let Me Fly

In September 1997 Jane Brill invited fellow Salvationists Kayte Harding-Chestney and Susan Johnson to take part in a concert in Milton Keynes to raise money for the Clarence Adoo Trust. Although this was only meant to be a one-off event, the three became friends and have worked together since. This CD is one of their fruits.

This powerful recording brings over an hour of listening delight from Jane, Kayte and Susan joined by the Nemo Brass Quintet. These girls are good at what they do. And I mean Extremely Good!. Many of the tracks were new to me and I loved listening to them for the first time, which is unusual (well, for me at least!). There are also some well known tracks. The danger with these is one tends to compare a new artiste singing an established song with the more usual singer and usually the comparison does not come out in favour of the new artiste. There is no problem with The Three Sopranos performing favourites such as Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu or the famous Flower Duet from Lakme.

I can highly recommend this CD. Don't buy it just because it supports Clarence. Buy it because it is one of the best vocal CDs on the market.

Clarence Adoo Brass Band

Live at Boscombe, June 2006

cover of Clarence Adoo Brass Band CD

A composite band performs ad-hoc concerts around the country to raise money for The Clarence Adoo Trust. It is called The Clarence Adoo Brass Band.

Then came the idea of increasing the Trust's income by producing a CD of one of the concerts. This CD, published in May 2007, is the result. As a retired Salvation Army Bandmaster, Clarence is very fond of Brass Bands, especially those with a Salvation Army flavour. Although he is obvoulsy not playing on this CD (but he does speak a prayer), the use of his picture and name are reflective of the amount of love and respect Clarence has from his fellow Army musicians. The band is conducted by Bramwell Tovey.
